In fresh incidents of violence against women in Bihar, a minor and a mentally retarded woman were among three raped in the state, police said Sunday even while a nationwide cry was being raised against the gang-rape of a 23-year-old para-medical student in Delhi, who died.

Two people have been arrested for abducting and gang-raping an intermediate student in Samastipur, police said.

Police said the student was abducted at gunpoint Friday in Vasudevpur village in Samastipur district, around 100 km from here, when she was returning home on a bicycle from a coaching class.

"The accused gang-raped her in a sugarcane field and later at a house," Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said.

A mentally retarded woman was raped Saturday by Ram Sakal Ram, an employee of Sadar hospital in its premises in Motihari, about 155 km from here.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said that medical tests of the victim were conducted and her statement was recorded before the judicial magistrate. He said the attacker was untraceable and on the run.

In Gopalganj district, 160 km from here, a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped Sunday by two youths in a village.

The police have stepped up efforts to nab the culprits, a police official said.

Last week, a 12-year-old girl was gang-raped by three youths in a village in Patna district. Police have arrested one of the attackers while two others are on the run.
