A close look on Tollywood Freedom Fighters!

Tollywood or Telugu Cinema has been blessed with great actors time and time again. Many tried to make movies in different genres while some proved successful others remained untamed due to disastrous outcomes. Not many actors showed interest in trying out the Freedom Fighters stories as they appear dry after a point of time with laggy screenplay.

Still, big stars time and time again, tried their hand at such stories. The first movie that we remember dearly even today is Superstar Krishna's Alluri Seetharamaraju. The movie became a sensational hit during the time and opened gates for many such biopics. Somehow no other actor succeeded at box office until Sr. NTR decided to break the jinx with his movie, Sardar Paparayudu. Even though the movie is just another revenge formula masala drama, the freedom fighter portion, helped the movie to become a blockbuster and a unique drama in the combination of Dasari Narayana Rao and NTR.

After that Megastar Chiranjeevi tried his luck for the first time with a freedom struggle backdrop during British India, that became a love hate revenge drama, Veta. The movie did not become a box office success. Venkatesh tried a movie, Subash Chandra Bose, on the cards of Rang De Basanti and Sardar Paparayudu, but it ended up a disaster. Nagarjuna too tried Rajanna, even though the movie is more about Telangana movement against Rajakars and Slavery, the movie did have portions of Indian Independence movement. The movie received critical acclaim but failed at box office.

After almost six years, another big hero, Chiranjeevi is trying his luck once again by coming with the story of a Telugu Freedom Fighter during the time. The actor made sure that the mistakes of Veta won't repeat again and he is the first actor to produce a biopic on a Freedom Fighter with a budget little over 125 crores. His plans regarding Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy are huge and the actor wants to get the cast and script right at any cost. He is planning to release the movie, Pan-India and the shooting is expected to start in September. Hope this time, full blown Freedom Fighter biopic after Alluri Seetharamaraju, will capture the attention of Indian audience.
