Hadnt it been for the Covid third wave big-ticket projects like RRR and Radhe Shyam would have hit the silver screens already. But surprisingly enough Covid third wave is not showing too big of an impact on Tollywood as feared initially.
Despite the onset of the Covid third wave film shootings are progressing as per plan. The likes of Chiranjeevi Prabhas Ram Charan and others are already busy with their ongoing projects. Mahesh Babu Allu Arjun Jr NTR and others will be getting back to work from February or March.
Incidentally even top-tier films like Khiladi and Bheemla Nayak are gearing up for release this February. While Khiladi is up for release on 11th Feb Bheemla Nayak is up for release on the 25th of February. The makers of these two biggies have decided to go on with the release plans. Other films like DJ Tillu Aa Ammai Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali and others will also be releasing next month.
The good thing is that the makers of RRR and Radhe Shyam who had to postpone the release due to the Covid situation are now contemplating the earliest possible release slots for their films. There are rumors that Radhe Shyam is likely to lock 18 or 25 March as the release date. The makers of RRR had already announced that the film will be releasing either on 18 March or 28 April. This makes it clear that the makers of pan-India projects are also gearing up to orchestrate release plans.
Amidst rumors that the Covid pandemic might be turning into an endemic and it might not have much of an impact on Tollywood as feared initially Tollywood is slowly but surely getting back on track. Several big ticket projects are now going for reshuffled release dates and more details in this regard will be out in the days to follow.
But as of now, Andhra Pradesh government is implementing 50% occupancy at cinema halls regulation and also the night curfew. The situation is not all that promising for now but things are expected to get better in the next few weeks. Once big ticket films start hitting the cinema halls, we can expect Tollywood to resume operations in a full feldged manner correspndingly.
