First Time In Tollywood: OTT Clash Between Two Films

Update: 2021-08-21 03:34 GMT
For the first time ever in Tollywood, two Telugu films are gearing up to hit the digital screens on the same day. These two films are nonother than Tuck Jagadish and Maestro. Interestingly enough, both these mainstream Telugu films are set to premiere on the same day - 10th September, marking the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi. While Tuck Jagadish premieres on Amazon Prime Video, Maestro will be made available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Both these films might be locking 10th September as the premiere date. We don't see two Telugu films releasing on OTT on the same day. This is very much the first of its kind occurrence.

Tuck Jagadish is tipped to be a wholesome family entertainer and it features Nani, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ritu Varma, Jagapathi Babu, and others in important roles. The film is directed by Shiva Nirvana and given its theme, it is better suited for festival release as family audiences generally tend to lap up new releases during the festival seasons. The makers are said to have sold the direct to digital rights of Tuck Jagadish for a whopping amount of Rs 37 crores. The makers minted big profits by selling off the OTT, satellite, and dubbing rights of the film. They are happy with the OTT prospects of the film.

As for Nithiin's Maestro, this film has been going under the radar for a long time now. Barring an occasional song and a relevant lyrical video, there hasn't been any interesting update on the project for the last few months. The makers have sold the digital rights of Maestro for as much as Rs 30 crores. The film is a remake of Bollywood super hit Andhadhun. Merlapaka Gandhi directed Maestro and it features Nithiin, Tamannaah, Nabha Natesh and others in important roles.

Meanwhile, producers and distributors have been breathing fire on the makers of Tuck Jagadish and Maestro for locking festival release dates as that would dent the theatrical revenues of other releases, which isn't an encouraging sign. It remains to be seen if the makers of Tuck Jagadish and Maestro will alter their release dates now.
