Two south Indian films eligible for Oscar nomination

Marathi courtroom drama "Court" is not the only Indian film vying for a spot in the nominations for the prestigious 88th Academy Awards(Oscar). Few more south indian films have joined the list.

Malayalam movie "Jalam" and Kannada film "Rangitaranga" and Konkani film "Nachom-ia Kumpasar" are vying for a spot in the nominations for the 88th Academy Awards.The films are among the 305 movies that made it to the list of eligible movies for the 88th Academy Awards.

Kannada film RangiTaranga is Kannada mystery thriller film written and directed by Anup Bhandari. Jalam movie directed by M. Padmakumar starring Priyanka Nair in the lead role
Konkani film Nachom-ia Kumpasar has travelled to many international film festivals and won several prestigious awards.Directed by Bardroy Barretto, the film is a tribute to the unsung Goan musicians of the 1960s and 1970s.

The final awards nominations will be announced on January 14, 2016 and the ceremony will be held on held on February 28 at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Chaitanya Tamhane's debut Marathi movie "Court" is the India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category.
