Young Mega hero Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty's debut outing 'Uppena' was released on Friday amidst huge hype and expectations. With Vijay Sethupathi playing the negative lead and big names like Sukumar and Devi Sri Prasad working on this film, 'Uppena' opened to packed houses on its first day.
The film received positive talk right from the first show and people were impressed with the impeccable performances from the lead cast and the director's narration. With everything going its way, 'Uppena' scored big on its first day. The film collected a share of 10.42 crores worldwide which is a record opening for any debut film hero in Tollywood.
The film minted 3.08 crores in Nizam area and 1.43 crores in the Vizag region. The East and West Godavari districts amounted to 0.98 crores and 0.81 crores respectively while Krishna and Guntur regions fetched 1.27 crores. After adding 35 lakhs from the Nellore region, the whole Andhra region summed up to 4.87 crores. The collections in Ceeded area were up to 1.35 crores. On the whole, 'Uppena' collected 9.3 crores in the Telugu states alone.
Other than that, the movie got 34 lakhs in the overseas market and 52 lakhs from the Karnataka region. It got around 16 lakhs from Tamil Nadu while the rest of India amounted to 10 lakhs.
