The Income Tax raids on the houses and offices of Tamil top star Vijay, leading actresses Samantha and Nayantara revealed that the collective tax evasion of these celebs could be anywhere around Rs 25 crore. IT Sleuths have recovered Rs 4 crore worth cash and gold during the raids.
A Senior IT Official said: "We conducted raids simultaneously on 10 people including Vijay, Samantha, Nayantara, Producers and Financiers. All these Celebs have been paying taxes but the full amount they were supposed to pay. While Vijay has been evading tax from 5 years, Both Samantha and Nayantara haven't be paying since 2 years. Producers and Financiers have evaded tax for 6 years".
IT Raids on Tamil Celebs began at 7 am on Wednesday and ended on Thursday night. About 35 places in Chennai, Madurai, Hyderabad, Cochin and Trivandrum have been raided. 'Puli' Producers Shibu Thameen and PT Selvakumar, Film Financiers Madurai Anbu and Ramesh were also uner the IT scanner.
