What Next For Bollywood Now?

Update: 2022-08-16 13:32 GMT
While most of the big Bollywood projects toppled at the box office in the past year or two, many thought that the situation would be different when big heroes arrive. Films of crazy heroes like Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh failed badly thereby ending up in huge losses. Also, bankable superstar like Akshay Kumar started to give back-to-back flops. Despite getting concerned, they hoped that things would get better once the Khans arrive.

Now, 'Laal Singh Chadda' arrived with a lot of buzz and it is on its way to becoming one of the biggest disasters in Aamir Khan's career. While the film itself is not good, a lot of people are now attributing the failure to the 'boycott' culture. To this, popular film critic and trade pundit Taran Adarsh said, "..a film rich in merit can withstand 'boycott' and any opposition in the form of exams, IPL matches and bad weather. 'Laal Singh Chaddha'...was devoid of merit. The stars are still sleeping."

If 'Laal Singh Chadda' is a failure because of 'boycott' culture from right wingers, what about the result of Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' which was released on the same day? It is a family sentiment film and Akshay Kumar is known for his patriotic and pro-right films. Even it failed badly at the box office. It is high time Bollywood stops pointing fingers at other reasons and take a deep introspection into where things are going wrong.

They are churning out one biopic after another. They are making remakes of movies that are already available on OTT platforms. They are unable to make universally appealing films and come up with subjects that cater to not just the multiplex crowds but also the people in towns and villages across the country. It is time for Bollywood to change its movies according to people's tastes.
