There was a time when people talked about how big Megastar's next film is going to be and how many records it will be breaking. He was an unparalleled emperor of Tollywood for more than two decades. He took a break from films and ventured into politics which did not work out. After a gap of 9 years, Chiru made his comeback to films which got everyone excited.
While many did not like the idea of giving a re-entry with a remake, they still embraced 'Khaidi No 150' and made it a super hit. His next film 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' did not live up to the expectations. Though the collections were good, it had to endure some losses due to the over budget. But the film gained massive hype before its release. It was mainly due to the fact that it is a straight film made by a noted director like Surender Reddy.
But Megastar is unable to generate such hype again with his script selection not just among the common audience but among the fans too. Though 'Acharya' had huge expectations on it when the film started, the continuous delays made the film lose its craze completely. The movie ended up being a disaster that resulted in heavy losses thereby resulting in nightmares for the fans.
Megastar's current lineup is making them worried even more. At a time when people are losing interest in remakes, Megastar is coming with two back-to-back remakes. He is making the Telugu version of the Malayalam super hit flick 'Lucifer' and named it 'Godfather'. Mohan Raja is directing it while big names like Salman Khan, Nayanthara, Satyadev and others are playing key roles. He is also working on 'Bholaa Shankar' under Meher Ramesh's direction. It is the remake of 'Vedhalam' which came back in 2015. Looking at the comments received for the teaser and posters of these two films recently, one can easily understand that even Mega fans are not interested in them.
Though Bobby's film is a bit better, he is known for commercial films but not fresh subjects. When his colleagues like Kamal Hassan and Mohan Lal are doing roles that suit their age and are coming up with exciting concepts, Megastar is still giving preference to masala entertainers which is not making his fans happy. Hope the legendary actor changes his style in the coming days.
