Why Are People Bashing 'Jathi Ratnalu' Now?

Post lockdown, Tollywood witnessed some successful outings in the form of 'Krack', 'Uppena', 'Rang De' and others. But it is 'Jathi Ratnalu' which turned out to be heavily successful considering its meager budget. Starring Naveen Polishetty, Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi in the lead, this out-and-out comedy entertainer was produced by Nag Ashwin. The film was a huge success right from the very first show. It received positive reports from all corners and the film left everyone in splits.

It got a share of over 30 crores and almost everyone who watched this film in theatres enjoyed it. It is the only South Indian film post lockdown to get 1 million dollars in the overseas market which explains how much people liked it. After a month of its theatrical release, the makers released it on Amazon Prime Video. The viewership was great and just as everyone expected. But people watched it on OTT platform started writing negatively about the film. They are calling it overrated and some are even claiming that it is outright silly which makes you irritated. They are even claiming that this film doesn't have a lot of comedy.

All of a sudden, everyone is wondering why 'Jathi Ratnalu' which became a super success in theatres has not impressed people on the OTT platform. Right from the very beginning, the makers were clear that this film doesn't have logic and was made on the sole purpose of entertainment. On the other hand, some experts say that films entertain heavily in theatres due to the whole experience of community watching. While watching it on the big screen, your complete attention is on the film and even a small joke gets amplified due to the theatre atmosphere which is not the case with OTT platforms. The same happened with 'F2' too. This comedy film earned wonderfully at the box office but everyone criticized it for being silly after the theatrical run got completed. This scenario is common in Bollywood too and we can take 'Housefull', 'Golmaal' and 'Dhamaal' series as the best examples.
