Why Can't Padmaavat Be Compared To Baahubali 2?

Bollywood, for that fact, every other part of Indian Film Industry in India, regional and National, is looking to overpower Baahubali and prove that they can deliver a better film or a better hit than that.

Well, Bajirao Mastani, a well-crafted film was pitted as an answer to Baahubali-1. The movie won awards for it's actors like Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra but could not stand in comparison with Baahubali-1 in popularity or at box office.

Now, Padmaavat is said to be the answer for Baahubali-2. That seems to be a very very distinct dream now. One can easily say that the film did earn 100 crores even though Rajputs rejected it and states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Bihar did not let the film run in theatres.

If we keep the collections aside, Baahubali-2 has a scene where Devasena acts on her own and chops off fingers of Sethupathi, army commander-in-Chief and friend of Bhallaladeva, the King of Mahismathi. Amarendra Baahubali enters the court room infuriated to see his pregnant wife in chains and once, he knows the reason, he cuts off the head of Sethupathi in front of hundreds of people and King.

In Padmaavat, Rani Padmini in order to save her husband and bring him back, decides to go to Alauddin Khilji's palace and before that asks the barbarian to cut off  traitor of their Kingdom's head. While, the traitor laughs at the demand, Khilji beheads him laughing hysterically.

In a simple regular scene, SS Rajamouli has been able to involve audience so much that the drama helped the movie to  connect with millions. In a scene with historic significance and valour, Sanjay Leela Bhanshali, the master of emotions, could really capture the moment in a gripping way. It seems like the scene just happened and Rani Padmini aka Padmavathi just gave her wish list and Barbaric King, who lusts after her accepted it.

In both the scenes, the context is different but the emotions are similar. A person who tried to shame a woman needed to be taught a lesson. While hero did it in Baahubali, there is even more drama in Padmaavat scene as villain, who is an abuser himself, does the execution.

All in all, we can say Padmaavat had moments but Baahubali-2 had emotion. Hence, even if the climax looked a bit far-fetched Baahubali 2 became such a huge phenomenon whereas Padmaavat couldn't reach that height.
