After seven months lockdown imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cinema halls across the country have reopened with 50% occupancy. Even the big screens are opened, people are not much interested to watch movies on big screens in fear of the coronavirus. Lack of new content is also a reason for empty theatres. However, the filmmakers are unable to decide on releasing their films with 50% occupancy.
Now, the top production house Yash Raj Films (YRF) has joined hands with multiplex chains PVR Cinemas, INOX and Cinepolis to lure people back into the theatres.
The production house is re-releasing classics like 'Veer Zara', 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', 'Sultan', 'Ek Tha Tiger', 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and more, this Diwali, without charging any fee.
The production banner, which completed 50 years recently, hopes to support the exhibition circuit through this move without charging any fee, a release from YRF said.
The ticket prices for all films are capped at Rs 50 because the production house and the exhibitors want the audience to come back to the theatres.
