After doing roles in movies like 'Premam', 'Brahmotsavam' and others as a child artist, Avantika Vandanapu's acting career blew up in Hollywood as she went to do a Disney film like 'Spin' and recently did another movie 'Mean Girls' which is a modern version of the classic film 'Mean Girls' which came back in 2004. During the movie's promotion in America, Avantika's accent became a huge debate.

Since she grew up in America, she had an American accent but she was subjected to a lot of trolls as people said that it is fake. She recently came to Hyderabad in order to take part in the promotions of her latest web series 'Big Girls Don't Cry'. During the interview, she explained about her accent and claimed that it is unfair to troll her.

She said, “I was born and raised in the US; it's natural for me to have an American accent. A lot of immigrant kids code-switch, as in, we speak in an English accent at school and an Indian accent at home. But, I think the Telugu audience is unfamiliar with it. I was trolled for how I speak in English, but I can't speak Telugu everywhere, right?"

She added, "When a Telugu girl gains success in Hollywood, she should be supported. It's unfair I was trolled for my accent. I would be proud and want to uplift, instead of troll. I thought people would be proud of me. I will keep doing what I will because my family is proud of me and their opinions are the only ones that matter."
