Commercial Touch Not Working For Director Ayan?

Bollywood cinema is in desperate need of talented commercial directors who can make big films with superstars. Several young directors who have been joining this list have been to deliver consistently, and we have another addition to the list in the form of Aya Mukerjee.

After a supremely successful film, like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ayan made Brahmastra, which was not a quality film of the top order. He certainly liked the commercial touch to handle a project of the scale. His latest film is War 2 with Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR.

This is a part of the universe that is being built by Yashraj films, and they were supremely confident about the kind of content that was on display. However, the returns have been very ordinary as this film could not generate the right kind of traction that was expected from it.

Even in terms of post release theatrical analysis, many people are commenting that the director could not generate the right kind of commercial elements by featuring two superstars like NTR and Hrithik Roshan.

There is no debating the fact that Ayan is one of the most talented directors in Indian cinema and has this sensible touch to make quality films. But when it comes to commercial cinema with top production values, the game becomes all the more tough, and this is where this talented filmmaker appears to be lacking.

This young Director seriously needs a retrospection now, and it has to be seen if he would move away to his safe genre of making sensible films, or whether he would stick to commercial films and burn his hands, even more.
