Last year, after coming up with heavy expectations, Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s WAR 2 bit the dust at the box office. The film was directed by none other than Ayan Mukherjee, a best friend of hero Ranbir Kapoor and the director who has carved out films like Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra with the actor. One thing proved with WAR 2 is that the writing of Ayan is quite bland, and it requires lots of detailing, logic and cinematic brilliance rather than just carving out costly visuals through set pieces and VFX stunts.
Amidst this, Ayan Mukherjee is least expected to carve out a film, particularly the sequel to Brahmastra. However, as per the reports coming up, Ayan Mukherjee is still working on Brahmastra 2, after getting a strong blow from War 2’s box office result. Ranbir Kapoor himself revealed this today at an event in Mumbai. Ayan narrated to him the story of Part 2, and it’s going to be 10 times bigger than the first one. While Part 1 itself hasn’t seen major success, many are wondering why they would carve out Part 2, that too with 10 times more impact.
Of course, big ticket movies make money, but that doesn’t mean makers blindly carve out the sequels such that they could cash on the craze. These days, audiences are outrightly and mercilessly rejecting the films when it comes to such stunts. In Telugu, we have Devara, which received similar negativity from all corners, though it made money; the same is the case with Brahmastra in Bollywood arena. Without noting that point, if Ayan Mukherjee blindly carves out the sequel, surely it would waste crores of rupees. Already, Ranbir is part of many such money-wasting projects, so all parties should be careful now.
