On March 20, Miyapur police booked several Tollywood celebrities for allegedly promoting betting apps. Among the names listed was Vijay Deverakonda, triggering immediate speculation. His team swiftly responded to set the record straight.

Authorities are cracking down on betting app promotions under various legal provisions, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanahita (BNS) and the Telangana State Gambling Act (TSGA). However, Vijay’s team clarified that his involvement was strictly with skill-based gaming, which remains legal in specific regions.

In an official statement, his team confirmed that Vijay had endorsed A23, a skill-based gaming platform, only after a legal review. They stressed that games like online rummy are legally recognized as skill-based by the Supreme Court of India. His association ended in 2023, and he no longer represents the brand.

With the controversy expanding, several actors and influencers, including Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, and Manchu Lakshmi, also face scrutiny. As authorities tighten their grip, Vijay’s team remains firm—his past endorsement was lawful, and any misinformation must be corrected.
