Is Bollywood Media Overrating 'Jawan'?

South cinema has been criticized by the North media for a long period for producing routine masala content without any freshness. Especially, the Telugu film industry was bashed by everyone and was looked down by many. But the tables have turned now as Tollywood is coming with different content and experimenting a lot. Even the commercial movies from Tollywood are being loved by everyone and it is reaching new heights.

The quality of Hindi and Tamil cinema is slowly going down while Tollywood is getting a lot of appreciation across the market. But the Bollywood media is trying to make every big film successful if it gets a decent buzz prior to the release. The movie is being praised as a masterpiece if it even gets a minor positive response. People who used to criticize the routine content in Tollywood are now terming the regular commercial movies as masterpieces.

They are even giving 4 star ratings to such movies. Take 'Jawan' for an example. It is a mix of a couple of South Indian hit movies and Atlee packaged it in the most commercial way possible. 'Jawan' is an average commercial flick and the only refreshing thing is seeing Shah Rukh Khan in such a movie. While a lot of Telugu critics gave 2.75 and 3 stars which is reasonable, the Bollywood critics are giving 4 and 4.5 to this movie and claiming it as a blockbuster. While the movie may go on to earn 1000 crores, giving it 4 or 4.5 is too much. With a Tamil director making the film, the Tamil media is also giving it 3.5 and 4 stars. But the neutral Telugu movie lovers who enjoyed the film are also saying that it is not worth that many stars. What do you think?
