The Telugu film industry is largely famous for harbouring the superstar culture. The number of superstars that Telugu Cinema had produced over the years is beyond ordinary and the kind of box office that they have is also exemplary.

But somewhere down the line, the kind of superstar that our Senior stars enjoy in Telugu cinema has made them soft and more oriented with commercial Cinema.

It can perhaps be argued that there are not many actors in Telugu cinema, who would dare to do the kind of beggar role that Dhanush did in his latest film Kuberaa.

Right from the organic presentation of the beggar character to the scenes where he is seated alongside a dumpster, Dhanush absolutely killed it as an actor and we can argue that not many Telugu stars would’ve replicated this in their films.

It has reached a point where Telugu cinema superstars are willing to be more comfortable with commercial roles, then explore themselves as actors, which is the core principle of being an actor in the first place.

Our films primarily run on high intensity, action shorts, and commercial episodes, which do not necessarily trigger the actors in our superstars.

But in terms of Tamil cinema, they traditionally pick up such raw and rugged roles. This is a crucial point of difference between the operational methods of the two acting streams.
