At the ongoing Cannes Festival event in France, while Alia confidently posed in a glamorous body-hugging outfit, trying to serve some international fashion moments, she faced major embarrassment on the red carpet. Several foreign photographers didn’t even seem interested in taking her pictures. In some clips, photographers can actually be seen looking elsewhere while Alia continues to pose for the cameras.

That has now opened viral criticism online, with many users brutally commenting that “99% of foreign photographers probably don’t even know who she is.” And honestly, that contrast is what shocked Indian audiences more. Social media users are now saying this is where PR machinery and international event coordination become important. Many feel either her global team or the Cannes management should have properly introduced and positioned her for international media visibility beforehand.

To be fair, Cannes is not exactly like an Indian film award show where every celebrity gets equal attention. International photographers mainly chase globally recognisable Hollywood faces, fashion icons, or stars with massive pull in Western media. So, acting in just one Hollywood film with Gal Gadot won’t make Alia a recognisable starlet, isn’t it?
