The long Christmas weekend has helped Tollywood see small sized movies make a big roar irrespecitve of the real talk around them. In fact, the movies have all made their mark, as they posted good openings on Dec 25th, followed by decent Day 2 collections and are now looking at a profitable weekend.
Leading the race is Roshan Meka’s Champion, both for its scale and positioning. The film made a whopping ₹6.91 crores from two days at the worldwide box office. Though the film was supposed to be a sports action drama going by the title, it gave a shocker by being a patriotic film woven around the Bhairanpalle incident. Despite the average reviews, the film is holding well.
Next up is Aadi Saikumar’s Shambhala, which opened great, a career best for the actor and collected around ₹5.9 crores gross in two days. That’s a big total, and the movie’s fictional fantasy is likely to add similar amounts of gross the next two days, with Saturday and Sunday being holidays for many. At the same time, the much hyped horror film Eesha made around ₹3 crores gross in two days, and might post a little bit more in the holidays.
Though the film Dhandora was expected to be a sleeper hit, somehow it didn’t hold horses and the negativity around actor-Shivaji might have affected the film’s chances. At the same time, Pathang was spoken for its visuals and quality, but the film hasn’t made much so far at the box office. A couple of holidays could easily turn around the chances. Let’s see what Telugu box office owes these movies.
