One of the iconic matinee idols Tollywood has ever seen, Megastar Chiranjeevi, has been awarded the prestigious NTR National Film Award by the Telangana government as part of Telangana Gaddar Film Awards 2025.

This honour not only recognises Chiranjeevi’s significant contributions to the Telugu film industry and the Indian film industry, but also highlights his remarkable journey from a humble background to becoming a top star. Films like Khaidi, Jagadekaveerudu Atiloka Sundari, Indra, and Tagore are considered milestones in Telugu cinema, and Chiranjeevi is the one who took those commercial films to the next level. Back in 1991 itself, Chiranjeevi commanded more fee than Amitabh Bachchan, but never did his producers feel he was expensive. Because the name Chiranjeevi itself is enough to bring crowds to theatres. While his talent, dedication, and socially responsible nature inspire many young heroes, Chiranjeevi is a hero in real life too as he undertakes various social service programs, including blood and eye donation, under Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust.

This recognition by the Telangana Government further solidifies Chiranjeevi’s artistic journey, which has entertained audiences for decades and is still going. Film fans believe his journey will guide future generations, not just actors but also the common audience, and recognising his contribution is a proud moment for the whole of Telugu cinema.

Megastar Chiranjeevi has received numerous prestigious accolades earlier, including India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan (2024), and third-highest, the Padma Bhushan (2006). He also holds the Guinness World Record as the most prolific actor-dancer (2024) and was recognised as the IFFI Indian Film Personality of the Year (2022), along with CNN-IBN’s ‘The men who changed face of Indian Cinema’ in 2013. Apart from this, he took home lots of Nandi Awards, National Awards and Filmfare trophies too.
