Chiranjeevi & Charan: That’s A Unique Feat
Back in January this year, Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu has hit the cinemas.
What’s star power? Irrespective of mid-range reviews or heavy criticism, a film should be able to get people to the theatre, and the producers should safely avoid losses and all the parties involved like exhibitors and distributors, should reach safe zones. That would be done only by star power. Guess what, Megastar Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan are the two stars who proved that they are iconic in terms of such crowd-pulling.
Back in January this year, Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu has hit the cinemas. Using the Sankranthi holiday season to its advantage, the film collected more than ₹300 crores gross from the box office, quite easily. More than that, the film has seen ‘Houseful’ boards even on the 13th day of its release. These are the days where films are making big on the first weekend, and then fizzling out by the end of the first week.
After #MegaMSG, that feat is achieved only by “Peddi” featuring Ram Charan. Telugu states have rolled out a red carpet for the movie as it registered housefuls on the 13th day of its release, even though the pre-monsoon showers, opened schools and colleges, and other factors are affecting the movies. We have to say that both Chiranjeevi and Charan have that unique crowd-pulling capacity.
Including both Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, while the box office pull is close to ₹700 crores, the OTT rights and other digital right sales might have made the total return touch ₹1000 crores. If both the films have gotten a terrific blockbuster talk, the upper limit would have shattered many records. For now, this a best feat so far by a father and son, who have both proven their stardom.
