The trend of releasing theatrical blockbusters again in theatres started with Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri, and it has become a mainstream prospect these days. Every other week, we keep seeing some other classic film being released in theatres.

In accordance with this, there have been reports and public opinions that Tollywood is perhaps overdoing the culture of re releases. This is evident if we look at the train that was exhibited by recently released film Stalin.

This intense action oriented film featuring Chiranjeevi was released in theatres again on the occasion of his birthday on August 22. However, the theatrical reception for this film has been very poor, despite the special occasion of Chiranjeevi’s birthday.

There is no debating the fact that this action oriented entertainer has enough commercial appeal to bring the audience to theatres in big numbers. And the occasion of Chiranjeevi’s birthday certainly adds to the momentum.

However, the issue here is that the Telugu audience have already witnessed multiple films re releasing in theatres. It has reached the saturation point, and it was also already observed in the case of Athadu earlier this month.

The situation got particularly worse for Stalin as this film is turning out to be a dud after the re release. Not many people are even aware of the fact that this film had released in theatres on the occasion of Chiranjeevi’s birthday, and that pretty much sums up the situation.

This is perhaps a strong indication of the fact that the Telugu audience are certainly done with the idea of re releasing films in theatres, and there must be a big break in order to regain the momentum.
