The trend of re-releases is quite prevalent in Tollywood over the past year. Fans of Mahesh Babu started this trend with 'Pokiri' and every star hero's fans re-released the cult movies of their hero. Pawan fans enjoyed the release of 'Khushi', 'Tholi Prema' and others while Mahesh fans had releases like 'Pokiri', 'Okkadu' and 'Businessman'. On the other hand, Ram Charan fans re-released 'Orange' and producer Nagababu gave the collections as a donation to Janasena party.

On the occasion of Chiranjeevi's birthday which is on 22nd August, Mega fans planned to re-release 'Nayak'. The bookings have already begun in some areas but this re-release was planned by a third party. But the special shows have been cancelled which led to a big discussion in the industry.

When a Mega hero film re-releases, the fan club presidents and PROs get involved. They coordinate everything and release the films grandly. They donate the collections to charity and use some of it for other purposes. But this did not happen for 'Nayak' as per reports.

A few people who are not in touch with PROs of Mega family and fan associations have decided to re-release the movie on their own. This did not go down well with fan associations and PROs. They thought these people are trying to cash in on Chiru's craze and that is reportedly the reason why 'Nayak' re-release has been stopped. However, fans are a bit upset about a mass entertainer like 'Nayak' not releasing in theatres once again.
