Telugu BO: The Odyssey Shows Pure Authority!

It’s a shocking thing of sorts at the Telugu box office, with people queueing up for a newly released English film, as if they are coming to watch a Baahubali or RRR. Almost all the top theatres in Hyderabad, like Prasads, Allu Cinemas, AMB and AAA, have witnessed top crowds this morning as if some benefit show of a star Telugu hero is going to be screened. And that authority goes to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey that hit cinemas today.

If we have to go by BookMyShow trends, nearly 14K tickets of “The Odyssey“ got sold in the last one hour (at the time of writing this article at 1.30 PM IST), creating a sort of sensation in India. The film was released in English, Telugu, Hindi and Tamil, in 2D, 4DX, Dolby Cinema IMAX 2D, MX4D and EPIQ formats. That’s pure authority being shown by the movie, while the ongoing Telugu film like Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin has got only 1.8K tickets booked in the last 1 hour on BMS.

Other Telugu films like Vadala, Mr Middle Class, Oh Sukumari, Raja The Raja and others haven’t even seen a trend and have had fewer than 500 tickets sold in the last one hour on Book My Show. However, it looks like ‘The Odyssey’s supremacy is likely to stay over the weekend, as most of the Telugu reviewers also got elated by the film and are giving great reviews already.
