By: Tupaki Desk | 30 March 2025 9:55 AMIndia is a very secular country, and at the same time, every aspect of art and cinema is often put under microscope on moral policing grounds. Something similar is happening with leading female comedian, Swathi Sachdeva.
The female comic is now under the radar for making an offensive joke about a vibrator and involving her mother in the story. While this was originally made by Swati to make fun of the situation, it quickly transpired into a social media debate.
In March 2025, comedian Swati Sachdeva stirred controversy with a joke about her mother discovering a vibrator in her room. During a YouTube episode, she humorously recounted how her mother, trying to act like a “cool mom,” found the vibrator but hesitated to address it. Sachdeva quipped, “Ye pakka mera vibrator udhaar maangne wali hai” (She’s surely going to ask to borrow my vibrator), drawing laughter from the audience.
The joke quickly went viral, dividing public opinion. While some appreciated her candid storytelling and bold humor, others found it inappropriate, arguing that such topics involving family members cross the line of decency. The backlash reignited debates over the limits of stand-up comedy in India. Despite criticism, Sachdeva has not issued an apology and continues to receive mixed reactions online.
Swati hasn’t apologised or reacted to this controversy, despite the sheer magnitude of the same. She is remaining tightly, put on this controversy as she appears to be waiting to put it out with time.
