The case against Bollywood top producer Ekta Kapoor, who has given blockbuster movies like Ek Villain, Dream Girl 2, Crew, and many more, but she is back in the spotlight for a different reason. A Mumbai magistrate court has pulled up the city police for missing a deadline to submit their inquiry report in a complaint filed against the producer. The complaint, originally made by social media personality Hindustani Bhau, accuses Kapoor and her team of disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her web series. The police were supposed to file their report by May 9. They didn’t. Now the court wants to know why.
This all started in 2020, when a scene from one of Alt Balaji’s shows drew serious backlash. It featured a character in military uniform involved in a sexual act, something the complainant claimed was not just offensive but an insult to the nation. The complaint didn’t stop with Ekta, it also named her parents, Shobha Kapoor and Jeetendra. The court later asked the Khar police to investigate the matter properly. Years have passed, and not much has moved forward.
This isn’t Kapoor’s first legal run-in. In 2024, she faced another FIR, this time over content in Gandii Baat that allegedly included inappropriate scenes involving children. The complaint came from Jabalpur BJP MLA Abhilash Pandey. These incidents have put Kapoor’s OTT content under recurring fire. While some defend her creative freedom, others say the line’s been crossed more than once.
Still, she’s not pressing pause. Ekta is busy reviving Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, with Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay stepping back into familiar roles. The reboot is expected to run 150 episodes. As she pushes ahead with one of TV’s biggest comebacks, the noise off-screen keeps following her.
