A cybercrime complaint has been filed against actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and Prabhas accusing them of promoting the illegal betting app Fun88. A Nellore resident named Sriram Babu claims to have lost ₹80 lakhs through the platform. The complaint points to the misuse of celebrity influence leading people into fraudulent schemes. Authorities are investigating the allegations under the Telangana Gaming Amendment Act.
The controversy emerged as the betting app scam continues to create ripples across Telugu states. According to Sriram Babu, he initially made profits of ₹3 lakhs through the app. He invested more bncouraged by his initial success and eventually taking loans from multiple sources. Unfortunately he lost all his money and it lead him to massive debts. In his frustration, he directly blamed Balakrishna for promoting the app which he believes misled him and others.
The Telangana RTC MD, Sajjanar has been actively campaigning against illegal betting apps. His efforts have brought to light the devastating financial losses faced by many. Recently several celebrities, influencers and social media personalities have been accused of promoting such platforms. Hyderabad police have already registered cases against well known actors like Rana Daggubati, Manchu Lakshmi and Prakash Raj.
Sriram Babu reportedly approached the Hyderabad police to file a complaint but he claims they threatened to arrest him for engaging in betting which is also illegal.
