Deepika Out Of Kalki: What’s Happening?
Fundamentally speaking, it is Deepika’s character, which will be the focal point of the story narration in the sequel as she is the one bearing Kalki in her womb.;
The makers of Kalki have officially communicated that Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is no longer going to be a part of the sequel of the film. Shortly, after this communication, the PR battle between Deepika and the film as an entity has begun.
On one hand, there are social media posts about how Deepika is the soul of the film, and her departure would take away the main prospect.
Fundamentally speaking, it is Deepika’s character, which will be the focal point of the story narration in the sequel as she is the one bearing Kalki in her womb.
More importantly, Deepika was very active in the promotional campaign of Kalki as she took part in the event, despite being pregnant. Her effort cannot be undermined in any case.
And on the other hand, there are several posts about how Deepika demanded extravagant amenities and confined working hours to be a part of the sequel. There are also reports about how she demanded extra remuneration for the sequel.
But at the heart of it, it must be noted that it is the character that largely overshadows Deepika’s presence. It wasn’t like Deepika bought ultimate prominence to this role with her acting prowess but instead the other way around. The strong characterisation was what made her performance effective.
Even in terms of audience perception, there was not too much emphasis on Deepika as it was Prabhas and very partly, Amitabh who carried the crowd pulling duties.
It might not be too much of a visual jerk to see some other actress playing this role and that’s for certain. It will all come down to the expert presentation of director, Nag Ashwin that will make the difference.
But for the time being, there will be great efforts to set the right perception behind this “parting ways” move. On one hand, Deepika will try her best to project this axing as a loss to the film and on the other, those who support the film will make it seem inconsequential.
