Like a powerful wave surging forward but crashing just before the shore, *Devara* has made a tremendous impact but narrowly missed one of the most prestigious records.
Like a powerful wave surging forward but crashing just before the shore, *Devara* has made a tremendous impact but narrowly missed one of the most prestigious records. Jr. NTR’s much-anticipated film, which had massive Pan-India hype from the start, has impressed audiences with its scale and high-voltage action. Directed by Koratala Siva, *Devara* managed to live up to the expectations of its grand release, with its first-day response catapulting it into a record-breaking territory, though not without a few surprises.
Despite mixed talk upon release, *Devara* witnessed extraordinary openings, solidifying its place as a commercial hit. Over the first few weeks, it performed consistently well, leading to a clean-hit status. The movie, set against a coastal backdrop, has now completed three successful weeks, banking on the Dussehra holidays. With an impressive Rs. 520 crore gross worldwide and a Rs. 250 crore share, *Devara* has proven to be a major success at the box office, showcasing NTR's star power.
In a unique feat, *Devara* has surpassed *RRR* in one particular record. While *RRR* held the record for maintaining a crore share for 17 consecutive days in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, *Devara* continued this streak for 19 days, breaking *RRR*’s record. However, despite this triumph, the film couldn't quite overtake *Hanuman*, which managed to sustain a crore share for 20 days. *Baahubali 2* still remains unbeatable with its 28-day streak, followed by *Baahubali 1* and *Hanuman*.
Though *Devara* fell just short of *Hanuman*’s record, it is undeniable that the film’s success has been monumental. With a star-studded cast including Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and Prakash Raj, the movie continues to hold strong at the box office. The music by Anirudh has only added to the film’s appeal, making *Devara* one of the biggest hits of the year despite its near-miss in the record books.
