Whenever films that lean towards Caste Politics are coming out, despite the filmmakers churning out honest stories, the Censor Board usually steamrolls its axe on lots of content. Irrespective of that, some films stand tall with their perseverance, and it looks like “Dhandooraa” is also one of them.
To cash on the Christmas Eve’s long holiday weekend, the film Dhandooraa is hitting cinemas tomorrow (Dec 25) along with the likes of Shambhala, Champion and Eesha. Guess what, after the trailer grabbed eyeballs for the film’s gripping and riveting insights into what happens when a lower caste person’s dead body is denied entry into a graveyard in a Telangana village, it has made headlines. Now comes the Censor into play.
After going through some cuts, which are mostly muting and removing dialogues that has caste references and cuss words, finally Dhandooraa passed the Censor test successfully. The film grabbed a U/A certificate from the Board, which means that even kids can also watch the film under parental guidance. That’s a great achievement for Dhandoora because this certificate will open doors for the film’s larger viewing at the box office. A restricted certificate like ‘A’ might have cut down the footfalls in the Holiday season.
Powerful performances from the likes of Shivaji, Navadeep, Nandu, Bindhu Madhavi and other actors is likely a boon for Dhandoora while the concept itself is a relatable one. Directed by Muralikanth Devasoth and produced by Ravindra Benerjee, the film is hitting cinemas on December 25th.
