Dhanush Reacts Strongly to National Awards Debate
He explained that he has learned not to expect awards because they cannot be achieved through hope alone. According to him, success and recognition come at the right time.
Actor Dhanush has finally spoken about the discussions surrounding the 72nd National Film Awards. After his film Raayan won the Best Tamil Film award and he received a Special Mention for his performance in Captain Miller, many fans shared different opinions on social media. Some people felt that other Tamil films and actors also deserved recognition.
Speaking at a recent public event, Dhanush responded to the debate with honesty and humility. He admitted that there were several excellent films released during the same year. He said, "Raayan received the National Film Award, but I believe there were films released that year which were better. I completely understand and respect the emotions of the fans who supported those films."
The actor also looked back at his own career and recalled many performances that did not receive National Awards despite being appreciated by audiences and critics. He mentioned films like Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam, Pudhupettai, 3, Mayakkam Enna, Vada Chennai, Karnan, Maryan, and Raanjhanaa. Dhanush said that during those times, many people believed he would win awards, but it never happened.
He explained that he has learned not to expect awards because they cannot be achieved through hope alone. According to him, success and recognition come at the right time. Dhanush said, "Some things simply fall into place on their own, no matter how hard you try; that is exactly how it happened for me. I got the opportunity. Regardless of how the film itself turned out, the effort I put into it was genuine. As a Tamilian, I have received two more National Awards; don't brush this aside, celebrate it."
Soon after the National Awards were announced, Dhanush also shared an emotional message on social media. He said that receiving his third National Award as an actor and his first National Award as a director was a special moment in his life. He added that the recognition for Captain Miller and Raayan would always remain close to his heart.
On the work front, Dhanush is now getting ready for the release of his upcoming film Om – Chapter 1, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, with Mammootty playing an important role. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the actor on the big screen once again.
