Did Blockbuster Script Fail Because of Ram Charan’s Image?
Sometimes the hero or director's image may not only add value to a movie but can also do damage.
Sometimes the hero or director's image may not only add value to a movie but can also do damage. Looks like the same thing happened with the Ram Charan film Game Changer.
Shankar is one of the biggest directors in Indian cinema. He earned a special place in the industry with films like Jeans, Indian and Anniyan. His films were known for their grand visuals, strong social messages and different storytelling styles. However his recent films have not received the same response as his earlier works.
One such film is Game Changer atarring Ram Charan. The film failed to meet expectations at the box office. After its release, many questions were raised about Shankar's storytelling and the film's direction. Now, a recent revelation by director Karthik Subbaraj has started another discussion about the movie.
Karthik Subbaraj recently spoke about a story he had narrated to Shankar. He said that the story was based on a gangster from Madurai and an election officer who travels to a village. The story reportedly had a strong political background and reminded him of the Hindi film Newton.
Karthik said that Shankar liked the story. However when Shankar asked him to develop the screenplay, Karthik was busy with the shooting of Mahaan. Because of this, he could not work on the screenplay and eventually gave the story to Shankar.
This revelation has now made people wonder what happened to the original story. Some movie lovers feel that the story might have worked better if Karthik Subbaraj had developed and directed it himself. Karthik also said while directors like Shankar make high budget films with heroes like Ram Charan, dynamics will definitely change.
Karthik is known for making films with different ideas and interesting characters. His filmmaking style is also different from Shankar's grand approach. Recently, his film Dorothy received attention from movie lovers.
Meanwhile his words made it clear that sometimes hero and director’s image also change the script and can cause blockbuster script to be a normal or flop one.
