Tollywood producers are currently going through a very difficult passage as non-theatrical market has largely constrained with Netflix and Amazon, not offering big bucks for films. And on top of that theatrical market is also gradually going down with audience, not showing much interest in watching films in theatres.

In this context, senior producer, Dil Raju made a very interesting comment about the “pay cut” that is likely to be the new trend in Tollywood henceforth.

While planning the movie’s budget, director Venu promised Dil Raju that he would not take any payment until the film succeeds. Actor Nithiin also supported this idea. Dil Raju told Nithiin that he could send any amount he wanted as his payment, and there was no fixed demand for his fee.

Dil Raju explained that this approach helps the producers, especially when there are fewer hit films these days. If the movie becomes a success, everyone benefits, but if it fails, producers and distributors face the loss. This way, both Nithiin and Venu Sriram shared the risk and supported the film’s success.

Considering the fact that the production scale of several Tollywood films is still substantial big, it needs to be said that taking cut in payment is going to be the next formula that is going to be enforced.

Directors and heroes must be repaired to take a cut in remuneration while producing big films and only stick to taking a share in the profits, which will help the producer in maintaining the balance.
