It wasn’t a film launch or a casual press meet, this was something bigger. On the occasion of World International Day Against Drug Abuse, big names from Telugu cinema like Dil Raju, Ram Charan, and Vijay Deverakonda gathered for a purpose that went beyond the screen. The focus wasn’t on upcoming movies or box office records. It was about the rising concern over drug use and how the industry should deal with it.

Ram Charan, speaking with honesty, admitted he’s scared as a father. “I’m nervous about sending my kids out into the world. Drugs destroy lives,” he said. Vijay Deverakonda followed, saying it straight, “If we ruin our youth, we ruin the country.” Both actors pushed for clean habits, daily routines, and time with family as ways to stay grounded. But the tone shifted when Dil Raju stepped in.

Dil Raju didn’t hold back. He said if drug use is confirmed among actors, they should be removed from the industry. No soft warnings, no excuses. He pointed to the Malayalam film industry’s recent firm action and suggested the Telugu industry should follow suit. “This will send the right message,” he said, calling for clear action instead of sugar-coated responses.

He added that the FDC would take this matter up seriously with other film leaders. But more than that, he made it personal. “I’ll make sure no one around me, family or friends, touches drugs,” Raju said. He asked others to take the same stand. No drama. No vague promises. Just a clear goal, clean up the circle, clean up the state.
