After the success of the 2020 Tamil film Draupathi, actor Richard Rishi is back with its much-awaited sequel, Draupathi 2. The film is being produced on a huge scale by Netaji Productions in association with Chola Chakravarthy and G. M Film Corporation. It is directed by Mohan G., who is known for films like Pazhaya Vannarapettai, Rudra Thandavam, and Bagasuran.
The makers revealed the powerful first-look poster on the occasion of Sri Vinayaka Chavithi. The movie is planned for a grand theatrical release in Tamil and Telugu later this year.
The story takes us back to the 14th century. It is based on the life and rule of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, who ruled South India with Thiruvannamalai as his capital. It also highlights the courage of the Kadavaraya kings of Sendhamangalam and their fight during the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.
About 75% of the movie was shot in Mumbai, while some key scenes were filmed in Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and Kerala. The makers promise a gripping narrative that links with the first part, making this a strong continuation of the Draupathi franchise.
Actress Rakshana Indusudan plays the female lead. The film also features Natti Natraj, Y. G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan in important roles.
The film’s dialogues are written by Padma Chandrasekhar. Music is composed by Ghibran, cinematography by Philip R. Sundar, editing by Devaraj, and art direction by Kamalnathan. Action scenes are choreographed by Action Santosh, while Thanika Tony handles dance choreography.
