After the massive success of Balagam, director Venu Yeldandi is getting ready for his next ambitious project titled Yellamma. The film is being produced by Dil Raju and marks the acting debut of music director Devi Sri Prasad as the lead hero. The movie has already created huge curiosity among Telugu cinema fans.
According to industry reports, the makers are still searching for the perfect heroine for the film. Earlier, actresses like Sai Pallavi, Keerthy Suresh, Mrunal Thakur, Sreeleela and Bhagyashri Borse were rumored to be part of the project. However, none of them officially signed the film till now.
Initially, Sai Pallavi was expected to play the female lead when actor Nani was considered for the project. Later, the casting plans changed and the film finally landed in DSP’s hands. Reports say Keerthy Suresh also showed interest in the story, but things did not move forward. Recently, discussions with Mrunal Thakur were also held, and rumors claimed that the makers even offered a huge remuneration.
Now, fresh buzz from the industry suggests that the team is thinking about introducing a completely new face instead of choosing a star heroine. The makers reportedly believe that a fresh actress would suit DSP better on screen and also bring more natural village vibes to the Telangana-based rural love story.
Another reason behind the delay is said to be the heroine’s role itself. The female lead in Yellamma is performance-oriented and mostly deglamorous. Many top actresses today are focusing on glamorous commercial films with star heroes, which may be one reason why the project is facing casting difficulties.
Meanwhile, veteran actor Prakash Raj is also rumored to be playing an important role in the movie. The team is planning to finalize the heroine soon and begin shooting in June.
