Dulquer Salman, Too Much Creativity Going Wrong?
Last Friday we saw the movie “I’m Game” hit cinemas, and it got negative talk almost immediately.
When Dulquer Salman has done Telugu films like Mahanati, Sitaramam and Lucky Bhaskar, surely the directors have worked magic. But when it comes to other-language movies, including his native Malayalam, somehow too much creativity is going into the script, thereby killing those films at the box office.
Last Friday we saw the movie “I’m Game” hit cinemas, and it got negative talk almost immediately. The film has too many concepts, like a winning cricket team in a national tournament being accused of match-fixing, the hero getting a hand replaced, that hand remembering old things, and much more. Too much creativity went into the writing, leaving the audience confused and scratching their heads to follow each thread.
Before this, Dulquer had movies like Kaantha, Chup and King Of Kotha, and most of them suffered from this excessive creative dose. At one point, it looks like Telugu directors are making good use of the hero’s acting skills, but the hero is losing his judgement when it comes to picking up Malayalam and Tamil films, which would actually work.
However, fans are hoping that his upcoming Telugu film “Akasamlo Oka Tara”, directed by Pavan Sadineni, who was finally released after 21 days in jail due to a sexual harassment case, should give Dulquer the biggest respite at the box office.
