The competition between 'Salaar' and 'Dunki' was talked about a lot prior to their releases. With SRK scoring two successive blockbusters which earned more than 1000 crores each people were very confident that the combination of King Khan and successful director Rajkumar Hirani would work wonders at the box office. Meanwhile, Prabhas had three flops in a row and two of them were outright disasters. Many expected SRK to breeze past Prabhas' film across the globe.

But what happened is the exact opposite. Prabhas' action drama 'Salaar' opened to packed crowds and the response has been positive everywhere. The official numbers aren't out yet but they are expected to be huge. On the other hand, 'Dunki' got a mixed response on the first day and people complained about the film not meeting the required standards. Apparently, the film made above 38 crores in India and grossed 58 crores worldwide. This is quite low as Prabhas' last film 'Adipurush' which got a negative talk right from the morning shows has earned 130 crores gross worldwide while it minted over 45 crores in the Hindi market alone on the first day.

This is quite unexpected and many claim that 'Dunki' not being a commercial action drama is the major reason for it. Let us wait and see how things are going to turn out in the coming days as 'Salaar' is expected to register over 150 crores gross on its opening day and trade pundits predict that it may collect over 1000 crores despite competing with a Shah Rukh Khan film.
