In the recent past, the global audience have developed a strong connectivity with franchise oriented films. In this context, we could be a new attempt in the form of F1, which is now officially confirmed to have a sequel.
The blockbuster racing film F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt as veteran driver Sonny Hayes, is officially getting a sequel in development. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that work on a follow-up is underway, ending months of rumors about a second chapter.
The first movie was released in June 2025, became a huge hit at the global box office (over $630 million), and earned multiple Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. It was also Apple Original Films’ most successful theatrical release.
Bruckheimer spoke about the sequel at an awards luncheon and said the new project is actively being worked on, though he didn’t share a release date or full cast list yet. It’s not officially confirmed if Brad Pitt will return in the same role, but his involvement in creative decisions has been mentioned.
Earlier comments from Formula 1’s CEO hinted that a sequel is possible but must meet very high standards and won’t arrive immediately.
At this stage, the sequel is in early development, and more details like plot, cast, and timeline are expected later as the project progresses. Considering the tremendous success of the first part, even in the Indian market, it needs to be seen how big of a success the sequel would be now.
