Tamil producer Gnanavel Raja had a big theatrical release in the form of Kanguva recently and he is now awaiting for a new project under his banner. As a part of the post-release promotional campaign for Kanguva, Gnanavel Raja has made an interesting statement today and it is regarding Telugu cinema's blockbuster film, Kalki.

The ace producer commented that Kalki shaped up the way for Kanguva's release and it set the stage for what was to come with Kanguva.

"Back when all trust was lost on whether South Indian films would be lapped up by the Hindi audience, we had a new release in the form of Kalki which went bonkers at the box office. This film was a historic blockbuster in Hindi and it paved way for all our films. I got my confidence back that Hindi audience are watching our films again and only then could I release Kanguva." the producer said.

Raja further comments that he had three sleepless nights prior to Kalki's release as he was anxious to see whether the pan-Indian audience really are ready to lap up South Indian films.

He added that hadn't Kalki succeeded at the box office the way it did, then he would have postponed his Kanguva's release to a later date and brought it out only after Pushpa 2's release. Well, as it appears, apart from Kalki's producer Ashwini Dutt, even Gnanavel Raja had a few sleepless nights due to the film.
