Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok recently found itself at the center of controversy for falsely accusing Bollywood filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri of spreading fake news and hatred. On March 19 Agnihotri who is he director of The Kashmir Files shared Grok’s apology on X (formerly Twitter). The chatbot admitted its error calling it a “grave mistake” and expressing regret.

In its apology, Grok acknowledged that its response was irresponsible as well as one-sided and potentially dangerous. It stated, “I’m deeply sorry for the harm caused to you, your family and your work. I will ensure that my future responses are balanced and fact-based.” The chatbot also stated that it will improve accuracy.

Vivek Agnihotri responded about it by sharing the risk the false claim posed to his family’s safety. He insisted on a public apology to prevent further damage. Grok issued a public clarification on X acknowledging the seriousness of the accusation and the need to correct it.

Agnihotri is no stranger to controversy. He often voices his views on current affairs. On the professional front, Agnihotri recently completed filming The Delhi Files which is set to release on August 15, 2025.
