Chiranjeevi In That Police Role? That’s a bad idea

Senior director Gunasekhar, who has delivered blockbusters like Chudalani Vundi, Okkadu and others, has directed and produced the film “Euphoria”, which released last week in theatres. While the film’s concept is highly appreciable, the drag in the second half made it a boring treat. Thus, the film hasn’t received footfalls, but then, Gunasekhar’s claim about asking Megastar Chiranjeevi to do the police officer role is going viral.

Apparently, Gunasekhar stated that he approached Chiranjeevi to play the role of a cop played by Gautham Vasudev Menon in Euphoria. In fact, many felt that it would have become a great film if Chiranjeevi played it. But frankly speaking, that’s a bad idea. Casting Chiranjeevi would have made the film a huge jolt, a bigger disappointment than it is now. Because the film is about a mother tutoring her son, and bringing him out of a bad path. If Chiru is cast, then it will become a police drama, but the original Hyderabad Gangrape case and other cases will not even get attention.

At the same time, had Chiranjeevi or a star of such stature done the cameo, surely Gunasekhar would have made table profits from the movie. The current status of the film’s financial viability is not known, but trade sources are pointing out that the dismal performance might lead to a major loss.
