Hanu Raghavapudi earned a special place in the hearts of Telugu cinema lovers with Sita Ramam. The film became a cult favourite because of its beautiful love story, emotional scenes, and impressive storytelling. Naturally, audiences have huge expectations from his next film Fauzi starring Prabhas. But the film's teaser has received both appreciation and criticism.

The teaser was released on October 23, 2026, on the occasion of Prabhas' birthday. Many fans were excited to see Prabhas in a period war action film. The visuals, background score and his different look created considerable interest. But a scene involving freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has now become the centre of a controversy.

Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of Netaji, reportedly criticised director Hanu Raghavapudi over the film's portrayal of the legendary freedom fighter. The scene shows Netaji meeting Adolf Hitler and discussing Prabhas' fictional character, who works as an Indian spy fighting against British rule.

Chandra Kumar Bose reportedly argued that filmmakers should not change important historical facts in the name of creative freedom. He also demanded a public apology from the director, stating that such portrayals could affect the image of a respected national leader.

But does this mean Hanu Raghavapudi deserves all the blame? The director is known for presenting emotional stories with strong historical backgrounds. Sita Ramam itself showed his ability to create a beautiful story set in a different period. With Fauzi, he appears to be exploring another historical setting, this time combining patriotism, war, and fictional characters.

But films based on historical events come with a major responsibility. When real leaders and important moments from India's freedom struggle are included, filmmakers must handle them carefully. Even a short scene can hurt people's feelings if it appears to change historical facts.

At the same time, it is important to understand the complete context of the scene before reaching a final conclusion. A teaser only offers a small glimpse of a much bigger story.

Hanu Raghavapudi and the makers of Fauzi have a challenging task ahead. The film is scheduled to release on March 19, 2027. The controversy may raise questions, but audiences will ultimately judge the film based on its storytelling, historical presentation, and overall impact. For now it may be too early to blame the director completely. The full film could provide a clearer understanding of the scene and its intention.
