Telugu cinema is preparing for owner of its biggest films in recent times in the form of Ustad Bhagat Singh. Ahead of the release of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, director Harish Shankar addressed the ongoing social media trolling surrounding the film and its alleged remake rumours.

Speaking during promotions, the filmmaker revealed the scale of online criticism the project has faced in recent weeks.

According to Harish Shankar, nearly 3.6 lakh tweets were posted trolling the film and claiming it to be a remake of Theri. Responding to the criticism, the director said he cannot go “door to door” explaining to everyone that the upcoming film is not simply a remake.

Instead, he insisted that audiences would understand the difference once they watch the film in theatres. The controversy comes at a crucial time as the action entertainer starring Pawan Kalyan is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19 after receiving a U A certificate from the censor board.

The film is among the most anticipated Telugu releases of the year and is expected to face strong competition at the box office.

Meanwhile, Harish Shankar recently found himself at the centre of another social media storm after a tweet related to Mahesh Babu triggered backlash from fans. The director later clarified that the response was posted after partially reading a tweet and issued a public apology to avoid further controversy.

With the film nearing release, the makers are continuing aggressive promotions, while the director remains confident that the final verdict will come from audiences once the movie hits the big screen.
