It is already known that the admin of leading South Indian film piracy website, Ibomma has been arrested by Hyderabad police earlier. He is currently being kept under police custody and is likely to face serious consequences for his earlier actions.

With pressure mounting from all sources as film individuals are asking for strict measures to be taken against this individual to send a strong message, there could be little consequences to the culprit.

According to the latest developments, there could be several legal implications in this case as the culprit could be facing multiple fines and elongated jail period.

Under India's Copyright Act, 1957 (Section 63), running a commercial piracy site like IBOMMA carries a maximum penalty of 3 years imprisonment and a fine up to ₹2 lakhs per offense for knowing infringement.

The Cinematograph Act, 2023, reinforces this with similar terms for film piracy. Courts may impose lesser sentences based on factors like prior offenses or cooperation, but multiple counts could extend total liability.
