As we had reported yesterday. Musical maestro. Ilaiyaraaja had reportedly served legal notice to Mythri Movie Makers for using a couple of songs from his compositions for their recent film Good Bad Ugly. The issue went on to catch their attention on social media as people were speculating and the nature of this lawsuit that was filed by Ilaiyaraaja.
It was primarily established that the musical legend had filed a lawsuit demanding an open apology from the makers and also a financial compensation of ₹5 crore for the same.
In this context, the producers have reacted on this issue as Mythri Movie Makers firmly stated that they secured the adequate rights from the music label before using the songs.
The producers made it very clear that the audio works and songs are entirely belonging to the concerned music label and added that they had secured all the necessary permissions and documentation to use these songs.
It has been established that once a song has been composed by the music composer and is out in the public forum, then this work will entirely belong to the music label that is associated with the same. Legally speaking, if anyone wants to use these songs in other forms, then they need to secure the permission from the lab only and not necessarily from the music Director.
This is the statement that was issued by the producers regarding the Ilaiyaraaja lawsuit issue and we have to see how this interesting case would take a new shape and form from here.
Incidentally, in the earlier mentioned Ajith Kumar film, we see a couple of songs of Ilaiyaraaja being used through the course of the narrative. This appears to have triggered the musical legend, and he filed a lawsuit on the same.
