And finally, we are hearing the positive news about the arrival of the IMAX screen in Hyderabad and here is a look into the story.;
Despite being a metropolitan city and a cultural hub for the Telugu states, Hyderabad has been without the prestigious IMAX screen for many years now. The only large scale production facility in the city is with Prasad, large screen, and this is just about it.
And finally, we are hearing the positive news about the arrival of the IMAX screen in Hyderabad and here is a look into the story.
Hyderabad is finally getting an IMAX theatre again after almost 10 years. Earlier, the city had an IMAX screen at Prasads Multiplex in Khairatabad. It opened in July 2003 and had one of the biggest IMAX screens in India.
It was very popular among movie lovers. But in 2014, the IMAX screen was removed and replaced with a different large screen format called PCX, which included Dolby Atmos sound.
Now, there is good news for movie fans. IMAX is planning to come back to Hyderabad. In June 2024, IMAX officials visited the city and checked possible locations. They are in talks with PVR Cinemas to bring back IMAX. The new screen might be installed at PVR Punjagutta or Next Galleria Mall. These are locations where PVR already operates big theatres.
However, the final decision depends on whether PVR gets government approval for premium ticket prices, which IMAX usually charges. If approved, an official announcement is expected soon. Hyderabad movie lovers can finally look forward to watching films in IMAX again.
