India Takes 61% Newcomers To Paris Olympics 2024!

The much-awaited Paris Olympics 2024 is all set to begin on 26th July and it will last till 11th August. This international multi-sport event is going to be viewed by everyone across the globe. With just a day ahead, here are some of the facts regarding the Indian athletes who are eager to show their talent on the World's biggest stage.
In the last Olympics held in Tokyo, the Indian contingent consisted of 121 athletes whereas it is 117 Indian athletes this time for Paris Olympics 2024. It is the second largest contingent and it would have taken the first spot had the Indian women's Hockey team qualified for this Olympics.
What's more interesting is the fact that 72 out of the 117 athletes are making their debut in the Olympics this time. This accounts for 61% of the total contingent. 47 Indian women athletes will be taking part in Paris Olympics 2024 while there are 70 male athletes. Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Mirabai Chanu, Men's Hockey team and Lovlina Borgohain are the previous Olympic medal winners who will be competing in the Paris Olympics too.
Haryana is the highest represented state as 24 out of 117 Indian athletes belong from there. It is closely followed by Punjab from where 19 athletes have emerged. As per First Post, the Indian contingent will be taking part in 16 different sports during the Paris Olympics 2024.
