Till a few years back, audio launches used to be the biggest event for a movie promotion. The trend continued for more than two decades but it slowly faded out and made way for pre-release events. The film's unit are planning one or two big pre-release events in major cities in order to generate buzz on the movie. But they are getting a bit monotonous and boring the audience these days.

It is always the dances, AVs and speeches of the cast members which go on for hours. They cost a lot of money and the industry folks are now discussing if they are really beneficial like before or not. So, there are some movies who did not have pre-release events and that did not have any effect on the collections. Big movies like Prabhas' 'Salaar' and Vijay's 'Leo' did not have pre-release events but they are turning out to be the highest-collecting films in their respective industries. While 'Leo' did not do too many promotions, all 'Salaar' team did was give a couple of interviews ahead of the release.

But the collections of both these movies were phenomenal and this is paving the way for other films too. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram's 'Devil' which is going to be released on 29th December is not having a pre-release event. The hero and the team members are giving interviews but they did not plan an event. If a mid-level film like 'Devil' becomes successful with such a strategy, we may see a lot of other films follow the same route and stop doing pre-release events. Let us wait and see what happens.
